All time favorite fish story----

On board with a great grandmother, a grandmother and 18 month old grand daughter. At four pm on a May afternoon the grandmother hooked up with a monster fish on our tarpon rod. The fish took off and we had to follow or be spooled.The fish was hooked within 300 yds of shore and three hours later we were five miles off shore and the grand mother said I've got to have a break! I took the rod to relieve her thinking the macho thought that I would put the fish close to the boat for pictures, 10 minutes later I gave her the rod back and said "good luck". During all this time the grand daughter was playing with a sand bucket with some water and sea shells.The great grand mother was saying "this fish is going to pull us to Mexico,cut the line" I explained in my most professional guide voice"we are going to Cuba".Then she picked up the knife to cut the line but we got her stopped. After a total of four hours and ten minutes wehooked the line to a cleat to raise the fish using the big motor,what a fish!We got pictures just as it was getting darkand it was well worth the fight.The fish was a12 ft 6" saw tooth fish with a weight of 355 ponds. Not a bad fish to go with our sea trout and mangrove snapper.when we got back to the dock great grand mother was over her fainting spell,grandmother was already sore but proud of her fish and granddaughter was fast asleep.Another good day on the water!
